San Diego Comic Con: Buffy!!Buffy: The Vampire Slayer?? When I first heard of the show, I couldn't believe they were making a crappy movie into a crappier TV series. I never gave it a chance and spent my high school years watching Star Trek or something. When I got to college, I noticed every Wednesday (Buffy airs on Tuesday) at the comic book store, everybody was always talking about Buffy. Buffy this, Buffy that. I realized it must be a good show, but I had already missed like 4 seasons, so there wasn't a point to start now. Fast forward to summer between Junior and Senior years. Buffy Season 1 and 2 go on sale, and I say to myself "Eh, why not? They're cheap and I need something to watch over the summer."
I finished watching both seasons in a week, right before my summer job started. That was the summer of Buffy, and I managed to catch up in time for the seventh season.
I honestly have a hard time picking out a better TV show than Buffy and Angel. Sure I love Batman, Superman and Justice League, but they really have a different tone than an hour long series, so I don't compare them. Out of hour long shows, Buffy ranks at the top and I urge you to give it a try. The first two seasons go for about $70 together. That's thirty-five 45-minute episodes! Do the math and that's more than 26 hours of television. I'll admit by the time you finish Season 1 you might think it's just an above average TV show, but by the time you hit mid-season of Season 2, you won't be able to stop watching, and the show just keeps on getting better. The spin-off Angel, is just as good as well. Note by the time you hit Buffy Season 4, make sure you watch Angel Season 1 at the same time, so you catch all the crossovers!
Buy Buffy Season 1 for $29.99
Buy Buffy Season 2 for $44.99
Buy Buffy Season 3 for $44.99
Buy Buffy Season 4 for $44.99
Buy Angel Season 1 for $44.99
In any case, back to the point. At Comic-Con I got a chance to meet seven actors/actresses/people associated with the show, and thought I'd share the pictures and autographs.
Lorne
Andy Hallet, who plays Lorne on Angel. I asked him if he would sing for us, and he told me maybe later. Unfortunately I didn't have time to stick around to see if he would!
Jonathan
One of the three nerds! (where are the other two??) Danny Strong was really friendly.
Jonathan
Mark Lutz as the Groosalugg! Obviously he's sporting his "Angel" haircut and not his Groo haircut. Oh well. I asked him about the show, and he seemed to be interested in doing more episodes, but he needed people to write in and tell the writers to put him in.
Kennedy
Wow. Is Kennedy as hot in real life as she is on the show? You bet. Iyari Limon was drawing the biggest crowd aside from Lorne and Tara, and it's easy to see why. I asked her if she was going to be on Angel, but she said she couldn't say anything until contracts had been signed.
Clem The Droopy Skin Demon
James C Leary was friendly and funny. Got Kittens??
Tara
I was really excited to meet Amber Benson, as she plays one of my favorite characters on the show. She was extremely nice, and seemed touched when I told her the last season just wasn't the same without her. Then when my brother and I left, she thanked us for coming to meet her!
Joss Whedon
This was the HOLY CRAP! Moment of the con. We were just walking the show floor when my brother goes "It's JOSS WHEDON!" (the creator of Buffy). Somehow he wasn't swamped with people, and I got a picture with him.
