Fury

Original Airdate: April 14, 2002

Short Summary:

Arestia?s plague begins to take full effect, and men begin falling ill. It doesn?t take long for the male members of the League to fall victim as well, and soon it?s up to Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl to defeat Arestia. Meanwhile only Tasukuri and Star Sapphire are left of Arestia?s gang, but Star Sapphire defects to the Leaguers side when she learns of Arestia?s crazy plan.

Meanwhile Hippolyta confronts Arestia, but Arestia refuses to listen and kidnaps the queen. Star Sapphire leads Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl to Arestia?s hideout where she plans to use a plane to infect the rest of the world. Star Sapphire then turns on the Leaguers, but doesn?t stop them from pursing Arestia?s plane. On the plane Hippolyta reveals that it was a man who saved Arestia and brought her to Paradise Island. The man died and is the only man to ever be buried on Paradise Island. Arestia still doesn?t budge, and a fight breaks out. During the, the missile doors become jammed. Arestia refuses to leave the plane and she dies in the explosion.

Everyone else escapes, and they use Arestia?s notes to find a cure and save the world.

Review:
An average episode whose ?female? gimmick makes it stand out. It?s nice to see both Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl get some more screen time. Once again there?s a bunch of villains crammed into this episode, but the writers do a good job of focusing on just Arestia and her female counterparts. I certainly hope this isn?t the end for Arestia she seems to have potential, as long as the writers develop her beyond the anti-male gimmick.
