Shade, The

Origin: In 1838, a young man by the name of Richard Swift was taken in by Piers Ludlow and his family. When the Ludlow family tried to kill him, he discovered that he could harness the forces of darkness and killed them all. Afterwards, he was pursued by the Ludlows decendants who would kill him over and over again. However his powers made it possible for him to come back from the dead. Eventually he established himself in Keystone City, and became an enemy of the Flash.

In Justice League, The Shade is one of the most powerful members of the Injustice Gang. The Shade also makes a reapperance as part of Arestia's gang in Fury. His powers are quite useful in masking an entry and escape, but the Justice League soon discover that without his nightstick, the Shade is powerless.
